The DPNR ('Diesel Particulate NOx Reduction') simultaneously reduces both NOx and particulate matter (PM) by temporarily storing it within a filter.</p><p> </p><p>When sensors detect the DPNR is saturated, a regeneration process will start: a separate exhaust port injector will inject fuel into the exhaust gasses, causing the temperature to increase and consequently oxidizing the stored NOx or PM into harmless components.</p><p> </p><p>Together it has made the 2.2 D-CAT one of the cleanest Diesel in the world for combined NOx and PM emissions. <br /></p>
